Our Reading Agony this week: ‘I’ve moved here from another country, my spoken English is okay, but reading English is hard for me. Can you help?’
We often buy an audio version of many fiction titles as well as a book version; it might help to borrow an unabridged audio version of novels and follow the written text whilst listening. Perhaps adult quick reads might be slightly easier. Or Non- fiction titles with illustrations and less text. We also have books in some community languages so people can have a mixture of reading in both English and their home language.
