Our Reading Agony this week “I am interested in taking up a new hobby can the library help?”
We suggest our many and varied book collections of titles on arts and crafts such as knitting, woodwork, painting, cooking etc. Also, perhaps joining a craft group – we have information on local groups and some even meet in the library.
We discuss today – Reads for a chilly day, or a stuck in bed with a cold day….
Suggestions included classics from childhood and reads set in another time or place.
We had quite a mix of titles which included:
• Anything at all by Terry Pratchett
• What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge
• Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
• Persuasion, Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
• Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris
• Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher
• Parasol Protectorate & Finishing School Series by Gail Carriger
• Bannon and Claire series by Lilith Saintcrow
• Lord Peter Wimsey series by Dorothy L Sayers
• Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle
• Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
Staff quote of the day (this came from Grant) “I’m a perfectly coordinated superhero today, I’ve put matching Flash T-shirt and socks on without realising!”
