Canal Scene Craft Instructions
Jan has created a craft activity to accompany the stories she has written for Falkirk Libraries
You will need:
- Glue: Pritt-stick or similar works well
- 4/6 sheets of White A4 thin card that will go through a printer or you can print on paper and glue to a cereal packet
- Felt pens or crayons, if you use Sharpies or Highlighter pens do be sure to protect the table
- Craft Scissors – ask an adult to help you cut out the templates
- Some paper straws
- Some string
Download the images for printing from the PDF below:
*You can ask for pre-printed copies of the template from your local library
Instructions:
- Print out all the A4 templates onto thin white card or if you use paper then glue to a cereal packet or similar
- The canal tunnel templates include a background a foreground and side braces
- Cut out the centre of the foreground canal tunnel template –
- Draw some beasts or junk in the bottom of the canal on the background
- Cut out the side braces fold tabs and glue them between the foreground and background – with riders facing inwards you can use paper clips to hold whilst glue dries
- Make holes in border of foreground and background for straws (to hang flying objects from)
- Cut out story template objects and fold tabs on the dotted lines (film edges) to make them stand up or hang them up
- Draw and cut our your own objects and make up a story
- Place your haunted canal tunnel scene on an A4 sheet of white card and add, recycled junk like plastic bottle tops
