Cat Walk by Tara MacNab

Snap. Snap. Pose. Purr. Snap.

I have been a cat calendar model since I was a kitten. The money is OK but I always get stuck with February, which I hate. I think I got February because I am ginger, and gingers always have it tough. February is a cold, short month and my face isn’t seen for long enough (leap years are a little better). I really want to take over from Nickolas; he is December cat and as you know, everyone loves Christmas. He gets to wear a Santa outfit which I rather like the look of. Maybe this will be my year; Simba will be Santa.

It was a Friday and we were doing the first test photos with a month to go until the big calendar photo shoot. I brought a delicious fish pie into the studio and made sure that Nickolas got the biggest portion. He deserved it. Every day for the next month I made sure Nickolas got lots of treats, including his favourite burger from McDonalds. Why not look after the top model?

It was photo shoot day and I strolled into the studio with a chocolate cake I’d made for Nickolas. Shock horror: the team were failing to squeeze Nickolas into the Santa outfit. They gave up and tried to squash him in the manger, but no joy. That’s when I heard the directors words, “Brenda, please can you try the Santa outfit on Simba?”.

My plan worked perfectly. Snap Snap.
